1. YUGE’VE

I married a Japanese lady from Kyoto City in 2014, and until then my wish had always been to live on an island, more particularly on a Greek Island ( having visited so many over a number of years in my earlier life )

But my wife really wanted to stay in Japan for a number of understandable reasons.

Although my wife is a Kyoto person and had always known a city life, nevertheless, we decided to visit some Japanese islands to have a look, mainly through my contacts with my sailing and yachting friends.

When we came across the Kamijima group of islands in the Inland Sea of Japan we were both struck with the beauty, the calmness, and the friendliness of the local people.

And so, soon after, we decided to move to the island of Yuge in Kamijima in May 2016, and I wrote a song about the island that became a favourite amongst the people here; in fact I was asked by the mayor to make a Japanese version, which I did a year later. Title of the song is ‘Island Of Dreams’, and was released on my ‘Out Of Sinc’ album.

Feeling so content living here with my wife, who had made my dream come true, I then wrote the song Yuge’ve to celebrate that fact. ( first line: ‘’Yuge’ve me everything and who could ask for more’ )
